About

Toril Johannessen (b.1978, Norway), living in Tromsø, Norway. Ways of seeing — and not seeing — are recurring themes in my practice. Combining historical records with fiction and my own investigations, my works often have elements of storytelling in visual or written form. I am interested in cognitive dissonances and how rationality and logic coexist with myths, superstition and irrational impulses in one and the same person, in one and the same society.
